88F here today (31C for those metric folk)... when it was getting into the 40's (say 8-9C) at nights just the other week still. Getting a bit warm to be working outside in the afternoon heat. Still, a lot better than some of the regions of India that have just broken all records at 51C (122F)... I couldn't imagine even walking out the door in that kinda heat.

I went for a three mile walk yesterday, and today on a loop through town. Stopping at the library for cold water fountain drinks, and air conditioning was my highlight. Due to my blood pressure, and cholesterol being so high, Im trying to get more exercise.
This mid 80's weather here in the north east is a welcomed sight! I even got some yard work done at my mom's, brother's, and my house :)

I'm probably only 40-50mi or so north of you Houdini, as the crow flies (depending on where you are, crossing the Throgs Neck is probably an hour for me in low traffic). I hate the heat more than the cold in CT usually, fall and spring are my time, where I can work up a sweat doing stuff outside, but actually cool off when I stop rather than keep sweating profusely the minute I walk out the door.
Of course you said you're more bible belt these days, so probably more used to longer warm weather than up here in the northeast now. I'd rather it be 60 all year long and maybe upper 40's at night (I prefer it cool to sleep).

Across the sound it would be, but in actual time its quite a long drive.
I love hot weather, and prefer it over the cold. Both Washington State, and Idaho (colder by far) taught me to keep my azz in warmer weather. So WHY oh WHY am I always getting stuck in Yankeeville? I cant even go for a walk without tasting the burnt smog smell lingering in the air. My family thinks Im crazy when I say that. From Maryland all the way to New Hampshire I can taste it.
If it wasn't for my Mom, brother, and current property values I would RUN back south.

It's all what you've gotten acclimated to... in winter, as long as it's not really windy, I'm walking out of the house in 35f (1-2c say) in a sweatshirt to head out shopping. Gotta be windy or or 20s (or less) for me to consider a jacket a requirement. It's heat... Or especially really humid hot days that kill me.

Houdini, with the weather we've been having I know why you don't live out here anymore. We finally broke 60 today. It went back to cold and wet.

I certainly do not miss the cloudy constant drizzle. I do miss NC very much.

It's hot today. We've cooled back down to 84/29. Tomorrow will be normal for us at 75/24. I wish I had an outdoor line for laundry.

It's much cooler here so no chance I'm working on a tan. Today's high 63/17 and we'll keep dropping thru Tue to 55/13 then back to 63/17 by Fri. We're being cheated I tell ya. Cheated.

Getting picked up in a few hours.... off to Inverness for 2 weeks of work at the Scottish Open. Actually gonna be living in Nairn in a huge house with a couple of workmates.
Work can be tough at times, eh? Go search that area n see what I mean.
Oh... guess who was employee of the month. Got shopping vouchers... that meant a tax free bonus!

Scotland is a beautiful country, and where you are working is certainly breath taking.

@houdini if you're ever in Scotland, you have to visit THIS PLACE in Glasgow. It's where Stan Laurel first appeared on stage and very atmospheric. My kids were on stage there helping a magician... to the utter delight of their granny (who I adored... was living under the roof of ex wife's mother at the time).

Beautiful area, I was up at Loch Ness long ago (age 14 IIRC w/ my family, though maybe 15 - we always traveled in July which was my b-day month, I somehow always wound up having my birthday in some other country - maybe why I don't make a big deal about b-days now, never had b-day parties with friends).
