:( I'd better stock up while I can, I prefer them to the new bulbs.

Scotland's national stadium is a shambles yet again. New turf was laid 5 weeks ago at the cost of £200K. It was ripped yesterday and new pitch wasn't even finished today. There are two soccer games on this weekend... hmmm... this was the pitch yesterday...

I am in Iowa on my way to NY. I managed to get cat naps at truck stops, and rest areas to make it this far from Idaho. My back has had it from Hyundai sleep. I must be nuts after well over 20 hours of road travel.
Therefore today I completely spoiled myself with a posh hotel room. The Jacuzzi tub is amazing! I over did it with the bubble bath, forgetting that when I turned it on I would have pure foam. OPS! The wonderful glory is I did not have to clean up my mess, but I did anyway. I value having to work hard for a living.
Im so full of dichotomies I entertain myself. I sitting here eating sardines with crackers, cause I feel like I spent too much money to eat out. The Travel Channel has a show about treasure hunters following the foot steps of Jessie James. Im sure I will fall asleep dreaming about the breakfast buffet at 6am.
Theres a pretty little pond out back with ducks and geese making a racket. Maybe they would like some crackers too...

Keep us informed as you travel. You know we'll worry even though you do this trek kind of regularly.

I would kill for just for a long soak, never mind a bubbly one, @houdini Just done a few long days at Hampden. Yes, my only @bug I would keep at home, I work there. Last 2 days was jet washing the seats. Ever tried dragging over 150ft of high pressure hose up n down for 8 hours a day? At a ripe old age? When guys less than half your age are complaining....... yay me... got more stamina than a wean

a wee addition.... a guy of 25 started last week... on the afternoon of his first day, he asked me how me n the other guy kept on going. His face fell when I said we really had a cushy shift. I was being honest too. Guy I work alongside is also called Stevie n we get on.... good grafters. Stevie is 47 n I'm 53... fuckin 100 years combined. Never mind that, we have done in a few mouthy wee shits before.

I find it quite entertaining to complete twice the amount of work than those half my age. I do believe its a generation thing though Stu. Those of us that are old school have stronger work ethics. We were taught differently because the world was a different place.
I was hoping I could stop at a rest area in New Jersey before coming over the George Washington bridge. Wishful thinking... Going east west on I-80 there aren't the travel plazas like on the Jersey Turnpike going north south. I got stuck slam in the hell of NYC traffic. I was actually screaming much quieter than the noise of the flow of gas powered vehicles. It took me an hour to get over it, never mind the Throgs Neck bridge. By the time I made it to the Long Island Expressway I remembered why I hate NY. I do believe there are nail marks carved deeply into my steering wheel cover.
The drive through Pennsylvania was absolutely beautiful, but the mountains there are much prettier in the fall. Another memorable spot was from Laramie Wyoming to Cheyenne. The Medicine Bow park and mountains are breath taking. I am simply happy to be home for a while, and have already went to the Mill Pond to sit and look at the boats across the way on the sound. I haven't had time to go to the old Guggenheim Estate to walk around on the beach. Its ten dollars now to get into the preserve, and with my Mom still in the hospital I haven't had time. I love that old place; I remember riding my bike there as a kid when it was free.
Now Im just old and have too many memories of places that don't even exist anymore...
Hope all is well with everyone, and best wishes for a great spring! Maybe Stu and I can find some time to go fishing. I have gear here older than my kids, complete with rusty hooks :)

I know someone who has a 'small' (5acre or so I think) orchard, who says every time it comes to harvest they have 2-3 'older' guys (our age, late 40s/50s/early 60s even) that work w/o complaint, and every time they've gotten an 18-25y/o they never come back a 2nd day (if they even make it past lunch).

I have known some lazy 'oldies' and some very hard working 'youngsters' so wouldn't like to totally generalise however there does seem to be a trend in who is able to just get stuck in and graft.

well... had 3 days off in last 18 days. 2 were Fri n Sat there, so was rested up before the Kilt Walk on Sunday there. Yes, I wore my kilt for it. There are four of these wee sponsored walks each year in Scotland. Next one's Aberdeen then Tayside then finally Edinburgh. Seeing we're working at it, we're not expected to do the entire 26 miles. Ww do it in 3 teams on the walk, but me n my partner for it got far over a third... we did about 11 or 12 miles.
