Quincy ME Brilliant. The chief of police caught someone every week. Hand cuffed and lobbed in jail. Then Quincy proved it wisnae him. Yet the chief of police was never sacked or demoted. Happy times. Quincy :) I loved it and The Equaliser.
Columbo was fantastic :)

I always thought the CSI series were odd. CSI doesn't interview suspects, they don't run around in Hummers, they don't arrest anyone and I've never seen any that look like the females on those shows...ever. ever..ever. They all wear the white form fitting pants and sling fingerprint dust all over the place and never ever get any on them...Doesn't work that way...you dust for prints it gets on your clothes, face..you'll be blowing your nose for hours. Criminal Minds is somewhat close in regards to the profiling aspect as I've used them a few times. The guns drawn kicking doors action...not so much. I'm done with my morning bored rambling...carry on. :) Lol..we had hot females but they usually on desk jobs near bosses.Right on, TV makes it seem like csi actually does police work. That show with Gary Senese inNYPD was fantasy. In real life they would mostly work in a lab and they used more technology than is actually used. Problem with TV is they make it seem like special Squads of detectives do most of the work Reality uniform police do most of it and precinct detectives do most of the investigation work and special Squads assist. My favorite was ppl thinking I have to read them their rights. If I am not interrogating them, I don't have to and as a uniformed officer I have no reason to ask them anything since most arrests are based on observation and/or witness.

^ you're too young and it wasn't "famous enough" for you to have heard of it. I'm betting there's a ton of 70s-early90s shows you've never heard of. And then, well... I worked with a woman who's maybe 10 years younger than me (I'm 55, she's in her 40s now), I remember one day back in 2005 she mentioned she was going to see "King Kong" at the movies with her hubby. I said "I wonder if he dies at the end like the original?" She said "what do you mean 'the original'?". Uh, like 1930s? Fay Wray? She had no idea it was a remake, never heard of the 1933 original. I was rather amazed at that, I mean 1933 is ahead of my time even (in fact my mom was *born* in 1933), but even I'd heard of it (and even seen it). LOL reminds me of a recent exchange I had with a 20-something at work. This punk was harassing me, and we had the following exchange: Me: "Dude, lay off, or you're gonna be doing a Bob Dylan!" Punk: "Bob Dylan? Whaddaya mean?" Me: "You're gonna be knockin' on heaven's door!" Punk: "I thought that was Guns N Roses!" I shook my head and walked away.

@crookc, advantage of working nights was any court appearance was it, and paid to eat breakfast since court starts a few hrs after my tour Sorry to hear. We have a warrant squad where they come in like away. But slot of the specialized units are political. Homicide doesn't work or show up at every homicide in Brooklyn. In fact at night when most homicides take place ,most of that squad off duty and local detectives got to do the work and call Homicide and CSU for the kits. What they do is have all the rookies in uniform walk every square inch looking for evidence. There just isn't the time or political will to close off the scene for too long. Oh yeah, another media flaw....the phone call. Wasnt obligated to give phone call right away, let them wait until they help me do paperwork.

I'm a big GNR fan, but I wish they had never covered that song.

This might be of interest to Joe and Catcher......... A lawyer was condemned for her 'despicable' suggestion yesterday that a heroic police officer should be disciplined for saving his life with a Taser during a vicious machete attack. The row erupted as smirking Muhammad Rodwan, 56, was jailed for 16 years for attacking PC Stuart Outten after he stopped his white van because it was not insured. The 29-year-old victim, later dubbed Britain's bravest policeman, survived the onslaught last August only by firing his Taser twice at the homeless driver. She wrote on Twitter she was surprised the Metropolitan Police 'haven't started disciplinary action against PC Outten for assault and battery on Muhammad Rodwan'. She added the officer's actions 'were in part found to be an excessive use of force' and that the case had shown 'there remains a risk to public by police misuse of Taser'. The trial judge ruled that evidence about a 'strikingly similar' machete attack by Rodwan on two men in 1996 and other convictions for rape and drugs should not go before jurors due to the length of time since the offence. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7927199/Lawyer-says-heroic-police-officer-disciplined-saving-life-Taser.html?adobe_mc=TS%3D1579956540%7CMCAID%3D2DC0237E85313BD2-6000012A40000751

Our judges are usually old fossils who piss themselves regularly.
They do love a Lord or lady title.
We had a 'lord' in Scotland who jailed a child rapist (the bairn was under 2 years old and he filmed the rape) to less than four years in jail.
Where he was jailed with other rapists and child molesters.
I despise the fuckers. The rapists and the 'Lord's.

Four years? Who exactly are they pandering too with stuff like that? If you can't see how sick that guy has to be what makes anyone think that four years behind bars is going to rehabilitate him?

It has been like that a long time. The issue is they don't do close to 4 years. Currently more like 2 and it will be rising to 2/3. SMH.

Only sgts had tasers, they didn't trust us lol. That being said, any force that can result in death or serious injury can be met with deadly force. Today with machete and other non firearms they hope you keep distance until emergency services comes but if you must fire. In uk I think their vests protect against sharp instruments unlike ours which is meant to resist firearms. OC use is not even really force since it can be used in non arrest situations like crowd control or get compliance. OC spray doesn't even work on everyone and can be dangerous to those with heart condition.

And a lot of this stupidity means folks are circling the wagons and only giving a shit about family and mates.
Folk have stopped getting annoyed.
Some terrorist scum kill man, woman and child.
What's the reaction? Lay flowers. Lay Teddy bears. Sing don't look back in anger.
No. Let's DO look back in anger.
Our security services reckon over 20,000 would be jihadis walk the UK streets.
Let's deport the foreign ones. Send them to Merkel.
Let's arrest and batter the living shite out of our ones and jail them for life and make them wish they were dead.
A nation of crying arseholes we have become.
And you no what Catcher? The biggest fear our coward establishment have is when the working class stand strong.
The football lads alliance put nearly 50,000 working class on a demo.
I only heard about it through football sites.
It was an anti Islamist demo.
The middle class white scum protested FOR the terrorists.
