I just ordered "fancy" boxed chocolate chip cookie mix to make for thanksgiving treats.( gifts) Ill add real butter, some vanilla extract, extra dark chocolate, pecans and do a batch with peanut butter too.Maybe a coconut version. Spectra you would love hummingbird cake.Everyone begs for this one and I use this recipe from the Southern Living cookbook. Just saved it to my favourites to look at properly once I've eaten later
Just watched it hehe. I will try it sometime. Still got 6 slices carrot cake in Freezer to use first

Been getting gift catalogs in the mail of late. Lots have 'special food' gifts you can buy. I've never ordered anything, but certainly drooled over the pictures. Anybody have experiences good/bad on ordering food gifts by mail?
Kind of tempting during Covid Time, What fun to have a treat delivered right to your door!

I have no guilty pleasures. I am unapologetic in everything I indulge in.

I did get a bag of half priced chocolate. Man,they had a lot this year left over.
Today was loaded soft vegetarian tacos & tequila. Enough sour cream and guac to kill me.

Valeriana The only food treat I do by mail is See's and Abdullah's at Christmas. Sees's has the best sugarfree peanut brittle that I get every year for a diabetic friend. I get a small box of chocolates for my son. I pick a few pieces for myself too. Abudulla's has tasty licorice caramels. Ordering means not going to the mall. I love to drive, but I hate crowds.

^^^ Sees is fabulous candy. We used to get a pound every year by mail.
Ive seen those Swiss catalogs but never ordered. A friend recently got some Omaha steaks & chicken, but they were half thawed by the time they got here.
I do enjoy Swanns food delivery when I can afford it.Very good stuff and its never half thawed.
I feel "guilty" when I eat sh1t that I know can feed cancer (like meat, sugar and dairy). Both my Mother and Grandmother died of cancer and were heavy dairy & meat consumers. If I got that gene,Im not eating stuff I know not to except once a week and eat cancer fighting foods almost as much as if I already have cancer.
So yeah I feel guilt when I do.

Speaking of candy, what's with this "fun size" shit I see written on the wrapper of smaller candy bars?
Where does the "fun" come into play here?
I have never opened up one of these candy bars and said to myself "weeeeeee, I'm having the time of my life, and I owe it all to Hershey!!!"

^^^Weeeeeeee! A tiny fun-sized bit of sweetness, when you're really craving a hedonistic portion of some sweet or salty goody. LOL
Thanks for the feedback on the mail order stuff. I recently enrolled in 'Flowers of the Month' and 'Fruits of the Month' clubs. Fresh flowers for mental health during the dark times to come (Thanks Uncle Joe for giving us the heads up) and fruit for , well, ya know, it's good for ya! LOL
Have been eyeing a fancy tinned three liquor Old English fruit cake in one of my catalogs. Living the Dream~

I have experimented over the years with baked goods & other things and found coconut oil is really good in sweets or foods that usually call for butter.A less deadly fat so not as much guilt.
I decided yesterday to try it with a chocolate chip cookie recipe. Y'all, it aint a cookie without butter. Im not impressed at all.Meh,bleh and ho hum.
But its fabulous in brownies and to fry eggs & crazy good in coffee over cream.

It's time once again for me to make my annual "are any of you having Italian food for Thanksgiving, and if so, please invite me over" Facebook post.
In all my years on Facebook, only one person has claimed they were and invited me over, but she ended up flaking out.
