It's a chilly one here this morning at better'n 10 degrees below freezing, but the sky looks pretty clear and once the sun comes up it's supposed to warm up quite a bit throughout the day. I'm thinking that it's likely time to put away the patio furniture, as well as my sandals, until next Spring though.

Swan, I know you didn't mean to worry me. Just know I only worry about people I care about.

Strange, strange weather around here this time of year. After not making it above 5 or 6 degrees below freezing for the previous 2 days, it warmed and has been melting for the last day (even overnight) and the snow is nearly gone again.

Snow? I love snow. Except when it falls in England cos we as a nation are utterly incompetent at dealing with the white stuff. My road gets snowed in for days and I have to walk everywhere, however on the plus side when everybody is walking they all say hello to each other.

In my younger years, I used to feel the same, and spent many hours enjoying activities that require the white stuff. I guess, over the years though the six month doses have just grown tiresome is all. I still enjoy seeing kids having fun in the stuff though ....and on the current weather front, it musta rained overnight as everything's soaked, but the clouds look to be breaking up now. Weatherman says it's supposed to get really windy throughout the day though, so that'll be a bummer for the wee ones and their costumes.

I'll drive late when no one else is on the road. Anyway hon, this is our area when it snows.

OMG! I hope there were no casualties!
I found this on youtube. This is where i walk my dog, I watched this and was laughing at the over protective fear creating mother's voice in the background.
This sums up Sussex in the snow.

EAST SUSSEX HURRICANE APPEAL !
A hurricane (Hurricane Shazza) and earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale hit East Sussex in the early hours of this morning with its epicentre in Hailsham. Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, muttering "Faaackinell".
The hurricane decimated the area causing almost £30 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Majorca and the Costa del Sol were damaged beyond repair. Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals were woken well before their Giros arrived.
Sussex FM reported that hundreds of residents were confused and bewildered and were still trying to come to terms with the fact that something interesting had happened in Hailsham . One resident - Tracy Shirley Smith, a 15-year-old mother of 5 said, "It was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes came running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two, Tyler-Morgan and Victoria-Storm slept through it all. I was still shaking when I was skinning up and watching Jeremy Kyle the next morning."
Apparently looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and carried on as normal.
The British Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates of Special Brew to the area to help the stricken locals. Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings, including benefit books, jewellery from Ratners and Bone China from the Pound shop.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster. Clothing is most sought after - items most needed include: Fila or Burberry baseball caps Kappa tracksuit tops (his and hers) Shell suits (female) White stilettos White sport socks Rockport boots Any other items usually sold in Primark.
Food parcels may be harder to come by but are needed all the same. Required foodstuffs include: Microwave meals Tins of baked beans KFC Ice cream Cans of Special Brew.
22p buys a biro for filling in the compensation forms £2 buys chips, crisps and blue fizzy drinks for a family of nine £5 buys fags and a lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.
**BREAKING NEWS**
Rescue workers found a girl in the rubble smothered in raspberry alco-pop and were worried she had been badly cut... "Where are you bleeding from?" they asked, "Eastbourne" said the girl, "woss that gotta do wiv you?".
. . . .
Gawwwd forgive but I'm still laughing at that. Maybe too many 'in jokes' for thems that don't know Hailsham to get, but thought I'd post it anyway ......

Hmmm. It's such a gorgeous day outside today (8 or 9 degrees above freezing) that it's hard to believe we'll be submerged in REAL Winter (below freezing, and to stay, along with anywhere from 4 inches to over a foot of fresh snow ) before the end of the weekend, but that's what all the forecasters are saying.

Swannie, that vid reminded me of telling my son, "If you want to have fun doing dangerous fun things don't ask me to watch or I'll turn into a mother and make you stop."
