Not sure if it's a holiday food for this holiday, but not crazy about pecan pie...it's just too sweet for me.
What have you done so far to prepare for Christmas? It's coming so soon now! :)

Hmmmm....that's a hard one because it goes up all the time...plus we have year round rentals and winter rentals (Oct through May typically, then they rent those same properties weekly for the summer tourist season to really get the most bang for their buck)....a problem for year round renters....
Um...so I'd say the average now is about 1300/month? Very few below $1000 unless it's just a room, or house share, or studio and they're as much as $950, though sometimes includes utilities, where anything bigger usually doesn't.

Ya ain't getting much for a thousand bucks a month anymore around Edmonton. (maybe in surrounding rural areas if ya get REALLY lucky) To rent a decent house is likely over $2000 per month, sometimes even $3000 or more.

The cheesy little apartments we used to pay about $425/month are now renting for $1700/month!They have had some major cosmetic upgrading done but, they are still little 2 bdrm apts. Things are going through the roof here right now and, a lot of people are not going to survive it What is your favorite chocolate bar?

Cadbury's Bournville dark chocolate from the UK. Yum. house prices are crazy everywhere...except in places where there are no jobs. Do you like eggnog? If so, home-made or store bought? And with or without the rum?

I'm not really too big of a fan, and never bother with it of my own accord. I can occasionally be persuaded to join others though in the spirit of the season, and homemade of outta the carton makes little difference to me. (the rum ya mention definitely makes it easier to persuade me to join in the festivities though ) SQ

I do like it....with good quality dark rum. Will drink store-bought, but home-made is totally delicious! Maybe this year I will try and make it myself. Anyone got an easy peasy yummy recipe for egg nog?

We used to make it in the blender 3 - 4 cups milk, one raw egg, nutmeg and, a little sugar; doesn't resemble the stuff from a carton at all!
When it comes to things like raw eggs; do you believe all of today's hype or, are you still a little old school in your thinking?

I really think it depends on which eggs you buy...whether raw or cooked...to determine how healthy or dangerous they are for you. So...yes and no, I guess. Thanks for the recipe, Tizz...sounds super easy, though I remember lovely white frothy stuff on top when I've had home-made. Wonder what that is? Sweetened whipped egg whites perhaps? If so, that's where I'll run into problems....don't have a whipper and I'm not spending all Christmas day whipping up egg whites by hand! unless I can use a blender for that too! I wonder..... Anyways, a question...umm... well, let's see... can't think, so SQ please.

Grandma used to make it pretty much like tizz suggests, but she'd use more eggs than that and a splash of vanilla too. It just all went in the blender and got whipped real good each time before serving. From what I remember, it was pretty thick and frothy straight from the blender. White or dark rum in your eggnog?

Dark rum without the eggnog if you please.

Would you go caroling now; if given the opportunity?
