Jimmy?
Interestingly thing is....I have always said...of all the people I have met through Pof you are the most genuine. (Except for Bug)
If I were planning a trip to Scottland...having you as a host and guide would be an honor and priviledge.
Alas...I love my Queen Mary...you know I do...but my bucket list?
Venice.
What can I say? I need to fulfill my fantasy of a gondolla and the bridge of sighs...😉

During the day Venice is too crowded but it is fun getting lost t night. When no one is out and your roaming the dark passageways it feels like your back hundreds of years.

Stumour, I loved Cape Cod. Mind you, I visited when I was in my 20s and I am sure it is a very different place today.
I have Iceland on my list for this year (fiscal, not calendar), so anyone who has suggestions of the must-sees would be appreciated. I will be going alone so any tips that might be helpful within that context would be welcome as well.

Love Cape Cod too and why I've lived here 19 years, and visited about 30. Actually very little has changed here except the greater number of year round residents and tourists that arrive each Summer.
Never been to Iceland, but heard it's really beautiful. My older son's been, so will see if he has any tips for you I can share.

Aren't some towns and beaches better than others? I live in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is on Long Island. I don't think our beaches are that good but Long Island suburbs have quaint towns and nice beaches. I bring this up because I get into these stupid arguments with my "sister" in law who lives in Boston all the time. First she likes to say how she thinks Boston is better but she actually lives in a suburb. Then she goes on the list the top 3 things she likes living in Boston which is Harvard(she brags about all the educated people ) 2. The beaches of Cape Cod 3. The Mountains of New Hampshire. She is frustrating to speak to because I point out that NONE of those 3 things are in Boston itself and I tell her that if she is going to use Cape Cod she needs to compare to Long Island which has 2 of the top East coast rated beaches and Cape Cod has only 1. Then I tell her that Harvard is also in a suburb and we have our IVY league school , Columbia actually in our city as well as Satellite branches of Cornell, which is also Ivy League. I also tell her there probably are more Harvard graduates working in NY than all of Boston. Then for the mountains. I ask her ..does she live in New Hampshire? I tell her we have the same damn mountain range upstate but have other mountain range close to the city. I win in the end because she admits she visits NY because she likes the excitement while we have to get our teeth pulled to visit Boston. Just ranting!

On my bucket list is Belize, Guadeloupe, Tahiti, Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Greece and Italy. Of course the tropical places top my list. I'm not realistic, but I think I'd love to retire to a tropical location. You have digs in Scotland, my dearest wee bug x you missed out Wales... how very dare you

I love New York/NYC, but there's nothing worse than listening to the goofy fucks who move here from there and incessantly piss and moan about how everything is supposedly "so much better" in New York. You'll find these obnoxious turds everywhere.

TBH most visitors never see downtown Orlando and the parts WE do see look like highways with chain stores going for miles and miles. My problem with Florida cities are everyone drives and for those of us that walk, it seems devoid of people at times, UNLESS ONE IS ALONG THE BEACHES.LA can be like that too though so not unique in America, but some of us consider cities to be walker friendly, like you have in old European cities. . those "turds" tend to be from NJ and Long Island! That being said, I assume you don't have to deal with them so much as long as your north of West Palm Beach. South Eastern Florida seems to have either Cubans or displaced Metro NYers. IMHO Orlando seems pretty mixed. Oh we were in Tampa recently and I didn't hear Hawking Jr. moaning in the street like I thought I might. That being said I was pointing out some of the rivalry that exists. Even the Boston sports fans worship their teams and think the Yankees suck!

That area is better than anything Orlando has to offer in terms of nightlife, in my opinion. It's where all the cool "alternative adult entertainment" joints are. None of the tourist horseshit I've grown to loathe.
I actually do have one person in particular that I deal with who's an overbearingly "proud New Yorker". Every time he opens his mouth, I tell him to take his fat ass back there.

awesomejoe73 , Long Island is huge in comparison. Cape Cod is tiny and all the beaches are beautiful, though I am partial to those on Cape Cod Bay and up the National Seashore on the Atlantic Ocean rather than those on Nantucket Sound. Like anywhere though, I feel comparisons and descriptions can't really be understood unless both people have been in both places. I love it here, like I loved the coastline villages of North Devon and Cornwall, England. I found many English love it here too, especially as you go further up the outer Cape where the towns are quite English in nature. Adding I lived west of Boston from age 13-19 and then on the Cape last 19 years and I've never heard anyone say the Yankees suck. But they do love the Red Sox here of course and the Yankees have historically been their number one rivals, that's all.

I love watching the travel shows from America when they go anywhere but the big cities.
Billy Connolly done a railroad show. From Chicago to Seattle. Seattle to Los Angeles (I think). LA to Texas. Texas to new York.
What was different was he stopped off the train in wee towns along the route.
He stopped off in Glasgow as well.
Brilliant seeing ordinary Sherman's just doing their daily lives and seeing local events.
The mid west, Washington State and the South is where I'd like to visit.
And there is an Edinburg in Texas. I'd like to visit there.
As a beer drinker Germany was one of the better experiences for me. The Munich beer festival.
Top notch stuff
