I love how the Conservatives are making it so easy for Scots to choose independence next year, come the referendum. They bring up pathetic arguments such as, should Scotland retain the pound as currency.
A few pointers.
The Bank Of Scotland is the oldest surviving bank in the UK. It was the first bank in Europe to print bank notes, and continues to do so. The Bank of England was proposed by a Scot and he was on on the board when it was formed.
"board", by the way, relates to judges being on the "bench"... they sat on long forms in a row on the one big plank of wood. Like the woodworm riddled planks of diseased wood they are.... infected by outside interests. Big businesses crawl over them like beetles and inject their cash larvae to eat away at them and corrupt them to the heart before discarding them and moving on.
I was a tad pissed off the SNP missed a glorious chance to bring up these points instead of settling for talking over the presenter on a recent televised debate. The Tory came over far better... simply for not being ignorant to the host and starting to waffle on about the "thistle" pound.
If the notion of calling a Scottish pound the "thistle" goes ahead, I'm moving to England. Petty shite like that has no meaning to me.... give me facts, not sound bites.

I've emailed the above tirade (with a wee edit) to one Nicola Sturgeon. She's the one verbally, at least, sucking on Alex Salmond, the king of sound bites. As a nationalist, I'm utterly embarrassed at the shenainigans of this duo. If they're not shagging each other, maybe they should... get the infatuation out of the way n get on wi the fuckin job! She was sneaked in by the back door as a list MSP... ie, never actually voted in... yet got a top job right away.

Here's a cracker... only residents of Scotland will be eligible to vote in the referendum. So, immigrants, foreign students n the likes can vote. On the other hand, them that had to, say, take work in England and relocated, but still have a home here, CANNOT vote. At least it means fakes like Sean Connery can go on happy slapping their partners in warmer climes n not vote... even though that's a lost yes vote.

I'll be prayin fer ya Stu. Scotland deserves it's independence. I think it would be a good thing all round. More so for the Scots of course. Don't know if the "pound" staying the same is good or bad, but renaming it? Seems a tad dumb to me. But, it's a year away, so have to see how things turn out.

Pah! Scotland should've been independent bloody ages ago. And let's not start on the fact to why they need to claim independence in the first place.
Thistle is a stupid name. It ought to be called The Pish.

It ought to be called The Pish. What about "The kerry oot" or the "DFP" (deep fried pizza)? Or the "Bru" seein as a glass bottle o Irn Bru happens to be a pound.... Manny, it ain't a year away... it's this Sep the referendum is. So, if they're gonna sort out the voting shambles, it's time to extract the digit.

So now the English government don't want us to share a currency when we get independence? We'll have sterling, then, n the English can piss off n get the Euro. Bank of England was, after all, Scots founded. We'll have that n them dahn saaf can have RBS (which owns Coutts... the Queen's bank)
arseholes are runnin scared
Another thing.... we already have our own currency. It happens to be sterling and we have 3 issuing banks against England's one. It'll be nothing new.... insular twats refusing Scots banknotes...

So... Cameraman n his cronies have set up cabinet in Aberdeen... not bad... 2nd time cabinet has been there in 90 years. Wonder why they did this... If they think just turning up somewhere will solve the mess they're in, did they not learn when they were heckled in Somerset? All it's done for me, personally, has galvanized me even more into separation.

So... Cameraman n his cronies have set up cabinet in Aberdeen... Having just heard that they are testing for fracking in London, this does not surprise me.

It's going back a few posts, but just came across this on tizz's corporate bailout link page - remembered your reference to him here, Stu. Maybe this is why he's making his beliefs so public - to inspire others to vote for independence as he can not. www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/03/02/james-bond-star-sean-connery-says-scottish-independence-a-chance-too-good-to-miss/Anyway, the last quote of that small article is thus.... Is that true, Stu? And if so, why would anyone wish to stay dependent?

Did you know 76.3% of statistics are made up? Neither did I until I made up that statistic. Polls are all to be taken with a liberal dose of salt.... they only cover a tiny cross section. They also depend on where they were done, by whom and to what ends. Interesting that result came from a government source, is it not?
I'm surprised that Labour isn't kicking up more fuss. They cannot afford to lose such a strong contingent of MPs from their base. They'll be lucky to ever get back in power if and when Scotland gains independance once more.
ps... did ya know there are twice as many giant pandas in Scotland as there are Conservative MPs?

And, yet again. the insular party fuck up. A high heid yin was arrested WEEKS ago over indecent child images on PCs WITHIN govt computers... even 10 Downing St is being searched.
How can ANYONE trust these imbeciles that cannot answer a simple Q with a straight A?
Who was it said "The only good politician is a dead one"?... oh.... it was me.... there just now...
Have these: A good politician is quite as unthinkable as an honest burglar. Henry Louis Mencken If a politician isn't doing it to his wife, then he's doing it to his country. Amy Grant

Latest on the banking/currency debacle. The Royal Bank of SCOTLAND, along with Lloyds, may have to move head offices from Edinburgh to south o the border. This is due to a Euro law put into statute in 1995. Let them go, I say. Means next time they need a bail out, it won't be Scotland's problem. We should set up a state bank... not run by over paid failures, of course.
