I sure wish I understood why this Corona shit has so many people in a contemplative and sentimental mood. I've had one ex contact me and two others I dated briefly since this all began.
I'm not running a boredom hotline. They should just forget me. Im lucky so far, no ex's have tried to contact me. Of course maybe that's because I never return calls from an ex, and I let the 'machine' answer. I don't wish any of them ill will, I hope they're ok, but have no desire to rekindle anything.

With the two I dated briefly, there were really no things to "patch up" per se. Things ended on good terms. Partings are generally amicable with me. (believe it or not...haha)

^^ WBU? I’m so not up with the acronym jargon. That's something I should have already added to the "don't you just hate..." thread. I'm just not a big fan of acronyms in general. The ones that are specifically intended for online conversation, at least. It seems new ones are created every day.
I hate texting as it is, so the last thing I want sent to me is something that looks like a fucking Windows serial key rather than a sentence.

I feel the same way about certain acronyms (Not official ones used by military or government) and using single letters for short words. Using "u" for "you" is saving a mere two letters and "b" for "be" saves one letter. If you're spelling out longer words, why not spell out all words?
As for texting, my patience runs thin by the third exchange. Text messaging is for a message, not a conversation. I'm not hip...

Exactly. I don't think many people understand the difference. I don't care who it is, I'm not being cyber-leashed. Ever.

Got to admit the other day every time I got a message my eyes rolled a tiny bit. If I was to message now the clown would answer lol...
and something I forgot to say @willow
You said about not trusting anyone at this time. I don't anyway regardless. Trust is earned. Not given.

I'm not one for endless texting, regardless of who it is. I get a little fed up with the device after a few texts and just stop. Quite a bit of the time, my phone is dead at the bottom of my purse. Before the shut-down, I was out to dinner with a girlfriend and let her know that I was going to be getting rid of my phone because I don't really use it. To this she asked, "Well what about when friends text you?" I told her I don't really have a lot of friends text me. At this point, she pulled out her phone to show me the unanswered text she sent me back in December. I don't intend to be rude, even though I am sure it certainly appears to people that I am being rude. I guess that is another I would like to get rid of the thing (I ended up having to keep it for work while working at home). I am sure it seems strange, but I find the phone a type of intrusion that tries to obligate me in to a pattern of responding, whether it's a convenient time or not. I'm old-school (or perhaps just old). I appreciate face-to-face communication over texting.

I prefer to use the unofficial Military acronyms more than the official ones.
As for those who want to be in a relationship, would be. It's not always that easy. I like being part of a couple, but I'm kinda picky up to a point. Also, whomever it was I wanted to be in a relationship with, would have to want the same.
ETA: Reading some of the posts, the word anti-social comes to mind...

It's fairly common for me to meet a woman, then have her text me for the first time and harass me for not texting back within two minutes. I'll get the initial message, then an obnoxious follow-up two minutes later that reads "HELLO????" It's ridiculous and completely uncalled for. Not to mention, it's all just a big shit test, anyway, that is ultimately failed by giving in.
On top of that, texting is a excruciatingly clumsy experience for me considering the keys on the keyboard are about the size of a baby's tooth.
I heard from yet another woman of the past 2 nights ago, but this time, it was actually a good thing. She's a Romanian woman I knew several years ago who was a goth model. We were never together in any way, but were attracted to each other. We just weren't able to act on it at that time due to various circumstances. Things are different now, though.

Oh my gosh, how many times have I received that stupid "HELLO????" message? You have absolutely nailed it. I have no patience for that nonsense.

Me neither. It's so rude! You'd never do it in person, so why do it by text?! Do they imagine you've got nothing better to do than drop everything to answer a non-urgent text immediately? Are we in the don't you hate it when thread? :)
So I'm thinking of how you could safely meet a new someone with this virus? A 10 foot apart walk and loud voice talk on the beach with other people around is the only idea I can come up with.

Neither do I. As I said, it happens rather frequently. I expect it anytime I meet a woman, and they usually deliver. Contrary to popular belief, the worst thing a man can do is give in to it with apologies and making himself more available to appease her.
99.9% of the time, she will lose respect for him for not standing up for himself and caving in. I stop communicating with them the very first time they give me any crap over it. They send me a few insulting texts afterward, then a few days later, send me a "hey, how are you?" text as if nothing happened. I simply continue to ignore.

Exactly. I don't keep my phone near me at all times and there are many moments where I simply don't hear it.
