And so it begins. Sky news is busy showing street performers. Thousands shall arrive in Edinburgh (especially at the weekends) to take in the street and theatre performers. The Royal mile is partly closed off and rather sadly many barriers erected to stop mad islamists from causing a terror attack. I'll see if I can find the high street web cam so yous can have a gander. Apparently 4,000 performers at the fringe this year. I used to love the tattoo. It was a celebration of all things military. Then the dafties got involved and demanded it became 'inclusive'. They used to have Marines dismantle a cannon. Take back bit over an obstacle course then re assemble. Alas no more. Health and safety. Sigh. This is from 2011 but it will give yous a rough idea. The lone piper up on the castle ramparts always gives me a shiver down my back. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/whats-on/edinburgh-festivals/royal-edinburgh-military-tattoo-2019-in-16-breathtaking-pictures-1-4975585

They usually put a full length version of the tattoo up after the festival. If they do I'll put the link up.
We are meant to be getting thunder and lightning.

The Dracul Culture Vulture Report.
So sitting in the Waverley train station waiting on my pal Elsie Whippet.
There is a piano in the main concourse. Anyone can use it. A young laddie nae mair than 17/18 sat down and played Bohemian Raphsody.
Apart from that I got pissed and never seen anything else.

The Dracul Report So up yesterday to the Pleasance Courtyard venue. Extremely busy. Sat and had a pint with an auld geezer and his missus. Good craic. Went to the Surgeons Hall Museums. Very very interesting place. Heard of the murderers Burke and Hare? They sold the bodies to the Edinburgh College Of Surgeons. Burkes death mask is there. Also a pocketbook made from his skin. blog.nms.ac.uk/2015/11/02/edinburghs-dark-history-burke-and-hare/Slow wander down to the High Street to pick up tickets. The Johnny Cash Story. The show starts. Drums, guitar and the big slap bass. Then out comes 'Johnny Cash'. Using a mixture of film of Cash's life the journey begins. The geezer does a belter of a Johnny Cash voice. Clip of said geezer........ Ends up he's Scottish. Then on to the Free Festival. A 'comedian'. The less said the better. Highlight time. Thrones. Absolutely fantastic. It is the most I've laughed in ages. Try and see it if you can. The geezer playing Jon Snow lol. His flat 'Yorkshire' accent. When 'Jon Snow' is with 'Ygridd' she killed by an arrow. Fired by 'Donald Trump'. "We're going to build an ice wall. And who's going to pay for it? The Wildlings that's who" . All in all the six cast members are very very funny. Thrones

The Dracul Report.
Today was an early start. Headed up to the Assembly Rooms to see the play Myra's Story.
It was the best bit of theatre I've seen for ages.
Myra is an alcoholic living on the streets of Dublin.
It is funny AND poignant...
Myra's Story preview.
After that it was time for a few pints.
Headed to Frankenstein's pub up George The Fourth bridge.
It has a great piece of hokum.
The 'monster'.
After that headed down to Hill Street to see the stage play American Idiot.
Based around the Green Day album.
It was good. But no being familiar with the album a lot of it sailed over my head.
Then it was a taxi hame.
