I'm not worried whether it is a coffee or a couple of drinks on a first meet, but I do prefer to do it after 6 pm.
MMM, Wasn't there some sort of stat flying around that coffee dates at lunch time were less successful than dates that happen in an evening?
There is a stat for everything, but one is better off disregarding stats. Too many people use them to discourage themselves. If someone goes out on a date at lunch time and it ultimately leads to no second date/meet, it probably had more to do with other factors than the time of day. I do agree that people will look for ways to confirm to themselves through stats or any other means if they want something to suit their way of thinking.

Yes, and it's a perfect way to become a self-sabotaging self-defeatist. Any time I read a sentence on the old forums that started with the words "Studies have shown", my immediate thought in response to it was always "fuck the studies".

When dating off the internet where we now go to find singles, I will only do a first meet for a beverage without calling it a date. Its a first MEET.

Here CB i hope your no being teaophobic mate?
A nice cup of tea soothes the savage beast.
Especially if a Tunnochs caramel wafer, caramel log or tea cake is involved.
Do yous lot over in our former colonies get jaffa cakes perchance?
No one on this planet would EVER get my last jaffa cake.
Bairn, grandbairns, sickly mates. NO ONE.
So if any of yous ever visit my homeland yous will recieve full hospitality.
But forget the jaffas.

Actually, I agree! Attraction I feel intensify s in the evening, or perhaps people just more frisky. In addition people more likely to drink to loosen up in the evening. I can't count many coffee date that end up in the sack but meetups at after work places have.

...and that's why there are so many std's. People are not numbers, and I hope you use condoms.

As a former CPhT you would be shocked as to how many prescriptions I filled for MAJOR STD's. The vast majority were for single men in my age group that didn't even know they would remain carriers.
I worked at in a major private hospital setting.

Coffee is a proven laxative. Not a good idea on a first meet. IMO

Coffee is a proven laxative. Not a good idea on a first meet. IMO Agreed. A coffee meeting can also cost more than a beer at happy hour(2 for 1 maybe). In addition to the high prices for big specialty coffee there's the temptation for pie/cake/pastries!

Coffee. I prefer tea to be honest. But over the years the good wee working mans cafes and takeaways have slowly vanished. Before you went in said takeaway and asked for a large cup of tea and a bacon and egg doubler with broon sauce please mate. And you we handed a large tea (t bag out) with milk and a morning roll with bacon, egg and broon sauce. Simples. But now!!!!!!!! Is it morning tea, breakfast tea, earl grey tea, green tea, liquorice tea etc etc Is it a morning roll, ciabatta, french stick etc etc etc. NO. IT'S A LARGE TEA WITH COO AND A ROLL WITH BACON, EGG AND BROON SAUCE. How delighted to read this today then. There's photies of said board on the link......... Seaside café mocks coffee snobs with a 'no nonsense' list of simplified orders - but sparks a debate over its accuracy A cafe in Poole, Dorset, came up with a solution for confusing coffee options They had swapped flat white for 'white coffee' and a latte for a 'milky coffee' Coffee aficionados failed to see the lighthearted tone and hit back on Reddit www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7187407/Dorset-caf-mocks-coffee-snobs-no-nonsense-list-simplified-orders.html
