Yes and NO....it depends. That's why guys need a consistent rule. If a guy expects all women go dutch on 1st meeting then no negative fears will exist. I played it the other way.I pay..for one I am old fashioned, but its also just SIMPLER than getting a headache about the whole whom pays for what. However, I only EVER met for a drink or even a walk(which can include a drink or ice cream even). I don't buy women I don't know FOOD, not a food date until date 3. If I am feeding you that means I am a provider of sorts. Men provide for THEIR women(COWBOY SONG TIME)....not a meeting with someone statistically likely you will never see again. Food is SPECIAL in my culture, when you share a meal, you should LIKE your company and vice versa. It shouldn't be made an entitlement. We got the gov't giving out food stamps if you want an entitlement!!
I also believe that one of the reasons men often get bitter is they spend a lot on a gal for a meal and the gal don't even like his BUTT! Who wants to spend money on someone who doesn't like them? NOT COOL. But buying someone a drink is ingrained as cool in our American culture..regardless of gender and/or situation. It plays it safe.

Who Pays?

I try to avoid a dinner date for a first meetup. I did once agree to meet a guy at a restaurant because it was a halfway point and I insisted on paying for myself. He seemed to take great offense to that though. I had guys seem to not like me insisting on paying a couple other times too when it was just for coffee. Here, there's such a pushback against feminists that some guys are really intent on being the payer. It may be a rural regional thing. Doesn't seem to be a problem when I have gone for a meetup with a guy from the city. A lot of country boys just have a different code I guess. There's a lot of anti-feminist pushback in general the last few years over here and as a woman, you do NOT want to be labeled as a feminist because it is a turnoff for many guys. While self-sufficiency for a woman is admired and appreciated, guys still want to feel like the protector and provider from what I've seen.

I can't even refer to what I do as "dating". It's completely informal and expectation-free.
Plus I'd think "If he pays for me he's definitely more interested in me because he wants to impress me" or I'd like him better because he's more of an old-fashioned gentleman.
Well, alright, but just how willing are you to take on the role of what a man thinks an "old fashioned woman" should be?

😂😂😂 Imagine getting that call. If I got that call, my overthinking might get the best of me. On one hand, I'd think "what a cheapskate" and on the other hand I'd wonder if it was a test to see if I was a gold digger or something but then what if the guy was just joking and I didn't catch his sense of humour. Regardless, I'd think it would definitely make me not eager for the date then. Especially for just a looney's toll. I will always offer to pay my half for a date but a guy who refuses the offer would earn my admiration a bit more. Plus I'd think "If he pays for me he's definitely more interested in me because he wants to impress me" or I'd like him better because he's more of an old-fashioned gentleman. If the guy asks if I want to split the bill prior to me even offering, then I'd think "He's definitely not that interested in me. He's not that attracted so he doesn't want to waste money on me because he doesn't want to see me after this date". There are also guys who pay for dinner and they expect you to be their dessert. Quid Pro Quo.

I read the other day on a news website in passing how a guy bought a lass a drink. He got her number. A few days pass and she gets a message. He only went and said she owes him the money for the drink as she didn't sleep with him I tried finding it. I swore it was on BBC website.

Awesome. Shes a gold digger. For one thing, lets say shes OLD FASHIONED and not a feminist...it was customary man asks women out and pick the place. Here I get the impression she dragged him to an expensive place and ordered top things on the menu. A proper women would even ask if its ok before ordering. She was not a proper girl. Its an ETERNITY clone. I wouldn't pay.
That reminds me of the date I had when I was in my early 20's before I had a car. A girl (was a set up date) picked me up in her car and drove me to an expensive Seafood restaurant in Sheepshead bay. She ordered an expensive meal and EXTRA stuff and planned to take the extra stuff home. She didn't even finish her meal and wanted to take that home. When she said "do you mind if I take this stuff home?". I said, sure, your paying so its up to you. She was like" Guys always pay for me blah blah blah". I said NOT this time. She said..she didn't have money. I knew she lying since she had a car. So I went to the bathroom and kept walking out the back and walked home. I saw she got a parking ticket as I passed her vehicle.

Gentlemen ALWAYS pay for girl's food
Hahahaha. Hilarious.
Enjoy your cats, sweetheart. Men with options don't have to play by your rules.
