One of my fav books has to be "Catch 22" by Joseph Heller and, thanks to the witch, I have a first edition.
Any other books I should waste my eyesight on?

Sadly, this is a hard book to get a hold of. Imajica by Clive Baker. It's a trippy fantasy.

Game of Thrones by George RR Martin is really good. First page grabs you by the throat and never lets go~
(I did not watch the TV series)

I thought I read he was ill for awhile and unsure if he was up to it. May actually have to BUY the books, instead of borrowing from the library, so I can re-read them before I tackle the next episode. ;-)
Always good to have some 'door stopper' books for when times are lean~

Stephen King really can work some scary magic. I was 20 and living alone when I read Salem's Lot. I considered buying garlic...
I've also read the Dark Tower series and cannot bring myself to watch the movie. Idris Elba is a good actor, but there's just no way can he be Roland.
I haven't read everything King's written, but I've read a lot.
Another writer that does good suspenseful horror is Dean Koontz. His problem is that sometimes he's repetitious. One of his scariest books is Phantoms. The movie bares little resemblance. Loved his modern version of Frankenstein and the Odd Thomas series.
@vesuvia I'd recommend getting The GOT books. We've reread them more than once.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck~
Not sure why I've not read it before, but when the time is right it's right.
Almost to the end. One of *the* best books I've ever read. ;-)

I used to partake but at 25 I read Pet Semetary and the last bit was so heart racing scary I had to read with someone else in the room.I went back to the classics. The Good Earth is fabulous. Loved The Old Man And The Sea East of Eden as mentioned before Deliverance & Godfather are also a bit dogeared. Also love biographies. One book Ive read until its falling apart is called Edie. About Edie Sedgwick. If you dont hate Warhol now, you will after reading this book.

Have been binge reading Ian Rankin's 'Rebus' novels.
Finish one, I start another. Cannot seem to let them go...

Miss sweet, I think you would enjoy The House Of The Spirits and 100 Years Of Solitude.I do think the latter is on the big O's list though. Its quite a change up from Rebus but very good. The Good Earth is fab too.

Yes, Magical Realism! Read them in my younger years. As well as Pearl Buck.
Next stop, now that the snow is here<<<DR. Zhivago. Saw the movie in my formative years< such a crush on Omar Sharif.
Need a big sweeping saga to get me through to Xmas! Read it years ago, but I was young then...Did not know or care about the back story, etc.
Anybody else recommend some big sweeping sagas to get us through the Covid Winter?
