After a big discussion on FB about poutine, I learned real Quebecois fry small quartered potatoes in bacon grease along with onions. I roasted mine in olive oil and, had to sub mozza for cheese curds... homemade mushroom gravy too

That gravy and, this "stoup" came from a prime rib roast that was on special a couple of weeks ago. The buns were bought to go with

yes
marinate meat in a whole head of chopped garlic minus 1 tsp (set aside with chopped veggies of choice and, some of the grated ginger), fresh grated ginger, black(or even white) pepper/hot sauce, a liberal sprinkle of 5 spice powder, sesame oil, soy sauce. Fry meat in hot oil remove from pan leaving behind as much of the oil as possible add hardest/longest cook time veggies first along with the reserved garlic and, ginger. In a large glass mix well: cold water, about 2 tbsp cornstarch, sesame oil, 2 tsp powdered chicken stock/broth, soy sauce and, a little more hot sauce; set aside. Gradually add remaining vegetables once veggies are done add back the meat stirring until everything is good and hot. Pour cornstarch water/broth mixture over and and continue stirring until thickened... serve over noodles or, rice if desired
