Here's a crackin wee beastie. Capture stuff as you view or listen... or even bawl yer lungs out into yer mic n record it... then save it to CD/DVD/BLURAY wi the inbuilt burner. Also converts media types... avi, mp3 n aw that to other formats. It's called aTubeCatcher and the download is under 12Mb. Even if you don't have, say, VLC or Real Player to view flash videos (*.flv) or listen to OGG or FLAC audio, you can still capture them then convert them to WMV or WMA if ye're still in the dark ages n stick wi windoze media player.

Hey, Stu -- thanks! I've tried FreeYouTubDownloader and it really sucks. To top it off, I think it includes malware upon installation. Any ideas on software that strips mp3 from such thangs as YouTube videars? There's some songs that are no longer available anywhere, but they on YouTube. And stuff like the Martin Luther King speech. I only want the sound, not the videar stuff.

Well now, Kreb, here's a superb all rounder that costs ya nothing but the time to down n install. It's called PAZERA AUDIO EXTRACTOR and, as well as ripping audio from video to loads of formats, allows for conversion between formats. Obviously, you'll need to download or already have the source video. Windows only for Pazera. Use the wee blue download link under the big green yin.... especially if on chrome... twatty browser thinks it's malware ffs Another option is to do it online. This means simply pasting the youtube video url into the site. Best I've seen is THIS ONE. Couldn't get simpler for the interface n is great if it's only mp3 you want. Waiting time is usually far faster than what is quoted. Only thing that irked me was the file name... extension .mp3 is tagged on to original

Thank you much. Really appreciate it. I'll try it out -- might have some questions later.

There's also this one... ANY AUDIO that can rip audio from DVDs too (unprotected ones). Not used it in a looooong time (it's on my old PC, in fact) n just remembered it. Gonna get it again right now! This one is actually my preferred option. It's really damn good, if I mind right.
