Application: Magicjack
Cost: free
Location: playstore
Uses: Allows me to make free calls. I use it when I don't want to use up my minutes. I can also use it to make free calls anywhere in North America. The catch is that you want to use free wifi so it doesn't use up your data.

I like to use NavFree as my GPS gizmo. Nice interface inc 3 or 2D view. Clean n simple n free on the playstore. Good, up to date maps... even here where there have been major road changes.

I also want to point out that it gives me a FREE usa number that anyone can call. I can also use this android application anywhere in the world I am.
In other words, if any of you UKers had this application, people in North America could call you for a lot cheaper if not free. You certainly could call them for free on the application. (at least that is how I'm told it works)

Application: Teamviewer
Cost: free
Location: playstore
Uses: Allows you to have remote access to your other computers. For example, you can access your laptop, desktop, cellphone, tablets, etc... all from any device.
Fun for spooking out your partner when they are home alone by turning on the music.

Application: Talking Translator
Cost: free
Location: playstore
Uses: it can translate both written and verbally spoken text. For example, let's say you're in Mexico and you don't speak the language, if you talk into your phone in English it will translate it to Spanish (or whatever language you want) and it can either play the saying OR you can show the translated text. It can translate any language it hears too so you'll always know what everyone is saying to you.
