Not too big of a TV fan here, so I won't even attempt to make a new show list of 10. I just finished watching half a dozen episodes of a National Geographic program called "One Strange Rock" that was really quite informative and enjoyable though. They should have picked a better host than the "Fresh Prince", (Will Smith) but it was still quite good. I'll be watching for more episodes to air for sure.
Now so I'm not being TOO much of a non-conformist, I'll mention a few oldies that I watched and enjoyed quite a bit. -M*A*S*H would definitely top my list -Mork and Mindy was always a hoot -Beverly Hillbillies was great -Gilligans Island was a must see when I was young -Get Smart was high on the list too -Hogans Heroes was usually pretty enjoyable -Happy Days was pretty decent now and then too -Sanford and Son had lots of good shows -All in the Family had lots of enjoyable episodes -Hee Haw was Gramma's "must see", but I'd be lying if I said I didn't quite like joining her to watch it
(I guess I did manage to scrape together a full list of 10 oldies, and could likely come up with a few more if I really thought about it)

My stepdad was big into a lot of the old shows when I was a teenager in the 90s. I absolutely hated Seinfeld, Three's Company, MASH and I Dream of Jeannie. Those shows just have a type of humour that doesn't stand up well for later generations. I just don't find them funny, just groan-inducing.Other shows on the other hand are quite good and have withstood the test of time. All in the Family and I Love Lucy are really good shows to me--I get the humour.

The issue I had with "Three's Company" is that damn near EVERY episode was based on a misunderstanding, but I still watched because, well.....hot chicks.
As for "Seinfeld", I've always felt one had to be a New Yorker to truly relate to it, which I'm not.

Had a date tell me I had large hands once( long fingers is all I swear) and all I could picture was the Seinfeld episode w man hands ... whats so funny to me is SMALL hands creep me the hell out, esp w short chubby fingers like Rachel Ray.I cant watch her use her hands and not look away

Wrasslin' was a huge part of my life for quite a while. Florida has always been a hotbed for it, and I even aspired to be a wrestler at one point.
As for hands, I'm a bit of a hands aficionado, and I prefer longer hands on a woman.

Oh, and speaking of "Seinfeld", in the few episodes I've seen, I never quite understood how the character of George was a guy with a very active dating life. Not only was it active, but he seemed to punch way above his "weight class" and even did his fair share of rejecting.
I know we're supposed to suspend disbelief with tv and movies, but this seems like a real stretch to me.

I couldn't stand Seinfeld but I had to watch every episode because my stepdad insisted on watching the reruns during supper all the time. The thing with George is that sure he was not an attractive guy BUT he went for a lot of girls above his league and he did land some of them, even if only temporarily. I chalk that up to the fact that a lot of women just don't get guys asking them out for whatever reason and sometimes they say yes to a guy just because they really want a date. Women are usually willing to try out dating a guy who is less attractive because they consider things such as career, money and power more while men usually won't date a women who's less attractive than them because it's not a preference to have a woman with a better career, more money or more power. This is why you see a lot of less-than-attractive guys dating girls that are a higher league in looks but you don't see guys dating girls less-attractive than them that often.

Actually, TODAY its the opposite. Women are punching above their weight more often, especially internet dating, more so than men are. The difference is because other women tend to view other women favorably they don't clearly see it while us guys tend to think all other guys are ugly, you gals call each other "pretty" but by objective standards in Anglophone countries plus Germany the men are more attractive than the women. Its subjective buts it my personal observation. In Germany the men are WAY better looking than their partners. I am talking about Caucasians. Latina's, even in America tend to date down, by objective standards, but Ironically think their guys are great looking lol. In France it goes both ways and in Eastern Europe guys can really date up and its not even considered punching above your weight since Eastern Euro's tend to hate pretty boys so they see them as UGLY lol.
Seinfeld is more appropriate for NY humor , Manhattan specifically, same as Sex and the City and Friends. However, for Americans, since they tend to follow NYC trends, its appreciative nationwide. Seinfeld humor is internationally recognized NOT so much for the specifics, since obviously foreigners won't understand the references. But he finds the truth in everyday situations and displays it humorously. That's some say the best type of humor so as an ARTIST , comedic artist...he is considered by many to be tops. What made the show SPECIAL was they had 4(Newman was a good 5th) characters that were so different and neurotic in very unique but recognizable ways.Decades later people have their own favorites. You might dislike Jerry but like Kramer, or hate George but like Elaine. Reminds me a bit like Three's company.I think you are wrong saying it doesn't appeal to the young of today. Both friends and Senfield are very popular in reruns with the young. In fact Friends is culturally iconic in starting and popularizing the new generation to move to big cities and move in with roommates since they can't afford the rent. Before friends it was considered uncool and that you were uneducated and poor. Friends made it cool. That led to other sitcoms about roommates, educated roommates that weren't poor but urban professionals.
That being said, I don't watch sitcoms anymore. Too simple minded for me and to similar to each other but for me CHEERS was great. It made me laugh the most. The characters were all unique at that time and it was simple yet often sophisticated at the same time.
Well its tv and he was in his 40's. He also lived in Manhattan, the most dense zip codes in the Western hemisphere.Numbers worked in his favor. I still don't understand how Seinfield dated Denise Richards in 2 episodes.
Additionally I find today's sitcoms to be too catering to sub groups. For example I have nothing against gays but they represent 4.5 % of the American population . Something seems off when 15%-20% of today's sitcom characters are gays or hillbillies or pro wrestlers. Once ART stops imitating real life I tune out.

I've heard this theory countless times in my life, and I've never bought it. Unless she looks like a cross between Medusa and Mimi from "The Drew Carey Show", if a woman enters an active bar or club, she will get hit on multiple times throughout the night. Some of the men will be annoyingly persistent. Sure, there are guys who are too chicken shit to initiate conversation, but there's never a shortage of men who aren't. Yes, some may be looking for only one-nighters, but not all of them.
Women are usually willing to try out dating a guy who is less attractive because they consider things such as career, money and power..
Which are things they should be achieving on their own.
