Oh, and speaking of "Seinfeld", in the few episodes I've seen, I never quite understood how the character of George was a guy with a very active dating life. Not only was it active, but he seemed to punch way above his "weight class" and even did his fair share of rejecting.
I know we're supposed to suspend disbelief with tv and movies, but this seems like a real stretch to me. I think ave Joes and Janes GO FOR IT-work for it and think they have nothing to lose. Extra ordinary good looking or rich people want/expect to be "chased". I know more *classically* less attractive men and women with partners.

I'm gonna disagree but I probably live in a different cultural context than you. Out here, what a woman does for work or what she has for finances doesn't really seem to matter and in several cases, it might even be a hindrance. Men seem to like the helpless female type and seem to like it when a woman is financially inferior to them. Mind you, I live in a rural area where macho is still in.
In my life before kids, I used to go out a lot with friends and I made plenty of observations. Most women do not get hit on. Men seem to gravitate towards the same women at the bars and such, usually blonde and petite. The bulk of women do not get guys trying to pick them up. In fact, most of my experience was spent observing that women tended to always be the one to initiate flirting. Mind you, most of the bars/clubs I went to had way more women than men, a result of the tendency of a lot of men going West for work in the oil, gas or logging industries. So for a woman to land a guy, she usually would have to be a little aggressive. And I was never aggressive. I was a bit shy, tall, brunette and only average in looks so I rarely got guys showing any interest in me. and most of my friends, some of them who were good looking, never had guys try to pick them up either. It always ended up being the same two friends, both blonde and petite.

I could put you in any bar or club here, and I guarantee you would be approached multiple times. If not, I would shave my head bald and wear a mini-skirt for the rest of my life. That's how sure I am.

That's a man looking to be in control. I couldn't give a flying shit about controlling a woman. Let's get together, have fun a few times a week, and leave each other the hell alone the rest of the time.
