I just stumbled across a pretty tasty snack for brunch. All I used was a soft tortilla, some pizza sauce, and a bit of cheese. (both mozza and old cheddar) On top of that I put some thinly sliced turkey breast and a scattering of leftover stuffing. I'm naming it Thanksgiving pizza. (copy-write pending)

tomorrow night we might have pumpkin seeds... I need to cook and, puree a pumpkin or two too. I only managed to carve one of the ones I bought.
I am going to brine and, soak my seeds. Boil them in water with lots of season salt; a little minced garlic, onion and, some pepper. Refrigerate overnight and, then drain and bake tomorrow.

Gee, I haven't eaten pumpkin seeds for years, (since I bought artificial electric Halloween ornaments) but used to like em way better'n spitz.
I'm now looking at leftover Halloween chocolate/goodies out the yin-yang.

I just tossed another big batch of meat and marinade into the fridge for another beef jerky bounty. It just barely fit in the gallon ice-cream pail I use. Probably cost less than $30 for everything, and a little elbow grease I suppose. I think it'd cost close to $200 to buy the jerky I'll get, but even more important in my books is that I'll know what I'm eating. (as close as is realistically possible anyhoo) Thursday morning it's out to the smoker for the stuff, then before the day is done.....

Pretty profound difference the outside temperature makes regarding the time necessary to make the beef jerky in my smoker. I started a batch early in the afternoon yesterday and expected it to easily be finished before it was pillow time. I checked it when I started getting sleepy though (after 10) and it wasn't even anywhere close to being done, so I had to just turn it off for the night and finish it up this morning. Yummy stuff though.
I'm thinking now that I'm likely safe to give it a go at smoking some cheddar, as I quite like the stuff but it usually costs an arm and a leg. I was paranoid of trying it this summer as the temperature inside the smoker just got way too warm I believe, and all I woulda ended up with was a nasty mess to try and clean up. I actually think it'll be a piece of cake now that it's cold out though.
Also, next time I head to city I must grab a little sack of almonds to smoke. I just put my last remaining ones in a big jar of trail-mix I made a couple weeks ago. It has to be from someplace that sells them in bulk though as for me going to the little local grocer and buy enough to even make bothering with the smoker worthwhile, it'd cost a small fortune.

how did the cheese experiment go grey?
I have cake mixes... I think I need to make one soon. Chocolate with raspberry; or apricot?

I checked things out and it still pushes the 200 degree mark pretty quickly. I'm sure that's still too hot. I need to replace the regulator with one that has settings for notably lower flow. This one just doesn't go low enough so the flame doesn't get small enough. That'll be a pain in the butt though and it's pretty unimportant. Maybe some day...

Yeah, mine's totally different and really primarily for smoking stuff. (I've already had a good BBQ for many years) It's not really all that much for the work department, but the long times involved gets to be a pain in the keester sometimes.

yeah that one is supposed to do double duty, I only use it for BBQ. I also have a small hibatchi bbq; it's a little too small though.
