And here I thought I was bad with 4 electrics and 2 acoustics.
Nice pics though, and some nice guitars.
The funniest one I recall was my old roommate (plays in a band), he bought this electric that had a solid aluminum neck. You might think it sounds like a good idea, I mean that hunk of metal is *never* going to warp/bend, right? Yeah, except aluminum has a big temperature change coefficient - he'd take it in his car to play in winter and it'd continually go out of tune as he played, as the neck warmed up to the room temperature. Interesting idea, poor choice of materials. :D

This is a guitar I bought from Mitch Easter. He produced the first REM album. Below is a video of Mitch playing this guitar at the 30th anniversary celebration for the release of the REM album

This guitar used to belong to Paul Westerberg of the Replacements
Was Baloo telling you this guitar is staying?
He really liked that guitar but his favorite was this Supro "Electro-Trem"

Kramer IIRC.
He's a machinist by trade, so he's quite handy and has built a few of his own. Made an acoustic for his then-GF (now wife) with a heart-shaped hole.
When we were roommates he built a copy of Garcia's tiger guitar. Out of oak. It was funny, me and our other roommate watched as he spent all summer one year sanding, then polyurethane, then there was bubbles and such so sanded again, re-poly'd, sanded, re-poly'd... Repeat for like 3 months before we finally busted on him "put a friggen neck on it and see how it sounds!". Yeah - it sounded like... A hunk of oak. Rotten tone.
He did finally make another he plays at gigs now - read up on how Jerry's tiger was really made, he got coco-bolo wood (sp?) and the other stuff the real tiger was made from. Other than it doesn't have the tiger image it's a really nice copy, complete with the two-jack audio loop (raw pickups out one stereo jack, through the effects loop, back in that jack and then through the tone/volume controls before going back out the mono jack). Sounds very much like the real thing.
Never got into the band thing like he did. Watched him for years driving 2-3 nights a week, after work, to practice with his band mates - 45mins one way, getting back after midnight to be up for his real job at 6am (and got fired from a few for being late too often - they don't take kindly to that at a machine shop running 3 shifts), and then doing a show here and there an hour+ away. He's kept at it, but I just couldn't see it for the minimal money they were getting (I mean, 4 guys and most bars took out their beer cost, driving an hour to setup, play for 2-3, lack up and drive home... For maybe $100? Didn't seem worth it to me). But he's been doing it for 30 years, so obviously he enjoys it.
